Hi Alesha, you might want to try an acrylic backed mirror. different feel to it, but would allow you to play with form more easily perhaps...
I have been trying to drill holes in mirrors using a 1/2 inch diamond tip drill bit. As the pictures show, it's not going very well, most mirrors have cracked and shattered in the process.
